Windsor is the largest inhabited castle in the world, and is still used today by Queen Elizabeth and her family.
We saw the state apartments, and Queen Mary's doll house. There were also pieces from the Royal Collection on display. Unfortunately, no photography was allowed inside the castle, & I had to sneak using my phone so I could make a note of all the interesting artifacts I saw.
There were gorgeous paintings, all sorts of weaponry, multiple sets of china, and opulence throughout.
We were also able to tour St George's chapel at Windsor. The remains of King Henry the eighth, and Jane Seymour are buried in a vault inside the chapel.
I even saw part of the changing of the guard ceremony.
After Windsor castle, we drove out to Stonehenge. It's an amazing sight. How in the world did people lift those giant stones (without modern machinery), and place them in the ground like they are!?
It was another cold and windy day today, finally feeling like fall. Although it was a little uncomfortable up on the hills near Stonehenge, no windbreaks in sight.
After Stonehenge, we were off to the ancient city of Bath. Sight of the only natural hot springs in the country. This was an amazing sight as well, seeing architecture from the Romens, as well as some artifacts from so long ago.... Amazing!
After Bath we had a 2+ hour (120 miles) drive back into London. It's a full buss load of us (the first one of my tours that had been completely full), with mostly Japanese tourists on board. I think it's cool to hear our British guide speak fluent Japanese in his accent :) he's also quite funny, with the typical british deadpan humor.
