I can't believe my first two weeks here have just flown by! And the time of me being a tourist is over.... I have fallen in love with this amazing city & the rest of the UK that I've seen.
The next day I went to the Natural History Museum. It was pretty amazing, but way to many little kids. I should not have gone on a Saturday, haha.
I started it off by visiting Westminster Abby. Man, was it incredible inside! Not only is it gorgeous, but just knowing all the history associated with it, and seeing all the tombs & memorials on the inside is awe inspiring.
I saw the tombs of such incredible people as Charles Darwin, Sir Isaac Newton, Queen Elizabeth the first, Queen (bloody) Mary, Charles Dickens, and Mary (Queen of Scots). Unfortunately, photos were not allowed inside. I would have loved to have taken some....
Some of the memorials that I saw were Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, Sir Winston Churchill, C.S. Lewis, Dylan Thomas, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
I then went to the National Gallery, The National Portrait, and the Tate Modern art museum.
I saw works by Monet, Rembrandt, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Renoir at the National Gallery. And at the Portrait gallery I saw portraits from the Tudor & Elizabethan period, some from as far back as 1485!! I especially loved the portraits of Queen Elizabeth the first.
I did see some amazing gem & mineral specimens, though!
After the natural history museum I went to the London Film Museum, which had on display most of the cars used in the James Bond films. It was so cool!!
Since my class stars tomorrow, I'm gonna have an early night and hopefully get a good nights sleep.
